Poetry: Death of a pet

by Brandi Finch

Created on: March 18, 2010

When we saved you from that awful pet store

You weighed 12 ounces, no less, no more

You grew up to be so slick and so daring

And a little bit greedy, you really hated sharing

But under all that you were loving and you were sweet

With a scrawny black body,  from your head to your feet

So when the day came that we had to part ways

And god carried you off into his golden warm rays

I couldn't stop crying because you weren't mine for that long

And because you were so full of life, so playful, and so strong

I cant believe I cant hold you again or laugh at your silly ways

I cant believe these were our final days

I'm sorry I wasn't there to save you from your fate

I should have  been there sooner, I'm so sorry i was late

I love you so much, that I pray you know

And I'll never forget you, no matter where I will go

So you'll be with me until the day we meet again

I know it seem so far away, I wish I knew when

So from now until then, you'll be locked inside my mind

Because I loved you so much Mogley, your were truly one of a kind
