Conflict occurs when daddy's little girl grows up and finds love of her own.....

Tamera left her daughter and went in search of her husband. She found him in the den, pacing, furious. "We need to talk."

"The only thing we need to discuss is whether or not I should take a belt to her and a shotgun to Stanley."

Tamera forced back a smile. "Kind of late for that, don’t you think?" She picked the Bible up from where he’d tossed it aside in frustration and noticed it was opened to Proverbs. "You’re reading the wrong Scriptures, Craig. Maybe you should try Ephesians, chapter six to be exact."

She opened to the passage and handed him the Bible. ....Children, obey your parents for this is right...Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger....

"Are you telling me that I should just walk away and let her get by with such blatant disrespect?"

"I’m telling you that you should lighten up. You have raised her up in the Lord and you should trust her to know and do what’s right. And you shouldn’t provoke her so."

"Great," he snarled. "Now, when she’s seventeen-years old, you presume to tell me how to treat my daughter."

Tamera felt the words like a slap in the face and fought against her own rising temper. "Oh, so now she’s just your daughter? Heaven forbid I should tell you anything even after all these years," she insisted, cringing inwardly at the sarcasm in her voice.

"Fine, Craig," she threw up her hands in exasperation, "I won’t say another word." She walked to the door.

Craig reached for her regretting his ill-tempered response. "Temper, wait."

She slapped his hands away. "No, you wait and you’d better listen to me, Craig! Keep pushing and you might as well cut her heart out and leave her wide open and bleeding all over the place. Just don’t be so arrogant as to assume you won’t walk away unscathed," she warned, the door slamming in her wake.

Craig sank down into his chair, buried his face in his hands and wept.
