The game of mafia wars was one of the early successes on facebook and it is easy to see why. Anyone can learn to play it easily and you don’t have to play it very much because you can’t do things all that quickly as you run out of stamina and toughness. Because of this success there have been a lot of games which have attempted to use this same formula of jobs, fighting, buying property and gathering together gang members in order to get father in the game.

Og, or Original Gangstaz is a game created for the ipod touch and the iphone by Addmired inc. and while it is in effect a skin for mafia wars there are some additions to this game that make it quite a bit of fun for the iphone.

If you have not played this type of game before I will describe it quickly. You are, in this game, a gangsta who is starting his own gang. You do this by completing jobs, which are petty crimes such as muggings, so you can get both money and experience. This allows you to buy weapons which you can use to do more difficult jobs, or to fight other people, and finally to buy buildings which produce money every hour.

One of the major strengths of this game is also one of its weakness and that is that with each job you do or fight you begin you see images flash across the screen. This is fun, the first few times that you see it but they are all similar and take several seconds each time which is more problematic the first few times than it is likely to be later as you are going to be limited in the amount you can do but hearing the same effect twenty times in a row it gets really old, and if you did a lot of fighting I suspect it could get worse. This also makes it take more time.

This style of game is potentially very addicting and the only question that left for me is whether I would rather play this than some of the similar versions of this game, and I have not yet decided but this is one of the best versions I have found for the ipod touch and the iphone but I also have not spent all that much time looking.
