Organic, Vegan and Vegetarian - the choices in the types of food in restaurants are beginning to multiply. To be clear, these food choices are found at these types of restaurants en masse but organic foods are served as a single menu choice at standard restaurant. Usually it is not shown on the menu and you have to ask.
So, the Seattle area has restaurants of that fit the “OVV” category that focus on different themes. Choices abound, everything from vegan doughnuts, to a classic U-District organic pizza to up scale sit down Seattle view restaurants, that focus on “farm to market,” type of food preference, can be found in the area. These restaurants do business with local farmers and growers. What a choice, to have the best of the local produce and vegetables served right on the menu. Seattle is truly a plethora of OVV restaurants.
Of the Vegetarian variety, there are Thai restaurants and Bistro’s that serve vegetables with pride. Choices that a person might make from the menus of these types of restaurants include such delicious dishes as dandelion salad with pomegranate and butternut squash. Look for very inexpensive restaurants that have organic listed in the title are available too and people tend to order salads at these places and are happy with those. You just about can’t go wrong with a good organic brick-oven pizza from a classic restaurant no matter the location. Seattle is no exception, the restaurant that serves up the locals, makes hand crafted made-to-order pizzas. Definitely one of the greatest mid-priced pizzas, a great menu choice for organic dining.
Seattle and other major metropolitan cities usually have at least one really good upscale restaurant that is fully organic as well as fully vegetarian. The kind of food that you could order, the type of food where you savor the flavor and the ambience of the restaurant itself. The examples of a typical menu at one of the upscale green dining establishments, would be simple but tastefully done, such items as: pumpkin soup, toasted pine nuts and pecan pistachio ravioli. You will find at these types of restaurants basic fruits, nuts, legumes and vegetables dressed up very nicely. Any restaurant that serves OVV foods, will be a restaurant that, unless it is extremely upscale, will give generous portions, moderately priced, so a diner can feel free to order and feel full at the end of the experience.
Restaurants, especially upscale farm to table type restaurants usually buy wholesale organic foods from companies that are not the organic line offered by Lucerne Foods or General Mills, where the fields where the food is grown, might be contaminated by the nearby farm’s groundwater. So, if you enjoy great organic and vegetarian food like I do, whether upscale, local or in between, restaurants are branching out and offering a colorful array of foods that are enjoyable, healthy and for the most part, do not empty your bank account by the end of the meal.
