Is there proof that you exist? You could show me your birth certificate, your family, and everything you have ever written. You can show me awards attesting to your greatest accomplishments. You could even meet me at Starbucks to prove it, yet I could look you straight in the eyes and say that I do not believe that you exist. You would probably laugh at me for acting so insane. If I say you do not exist, does that change the truth?
In this day it seems that it is perfectly acceptable to deny any fact that makes us uncomfortable. But why stop there? I know we can be even lazier than that. We can just ignore the facts all together. Maybe if we cover our eyes and pretend that God does not exist, then he will not exist. I think the question we should be asking is, why do so many people have an unquenchable desire to disprove that God exists? If they truly believed 100% that God does not exist, then what is the point of even arguing? If he does not exist, then why fight so hard to prove it? There must be another reason that people reject God.
If he exists, then people who do not follow what he says are in big trouble. Unless God makes a way for people to be forgiven, we are all doomed. Jesus is God the Son, and he took our punishment on himself. All he requires is a belief in God that causes us to love as he does. Then he recreates us to make us desire good rather than evil through a lifelong process.
Some would point to hypocritical believers and say that God does not exist. How could people say that God exists and act like he does not? I see their point. However, it is misunderstood. The question assumes that people who believe in God are perfect. This is far from the truth. Trust me, I believe in God and I know that I am not perfect. People who really believe in God are not God himself. They fail. They try again. They fail again. Everyone fails, at least once in their lives. Show me a human who does not fail and I will retract my statement. True believers seek to improve their hearts and subsequently their actions by the aid of God the Spirit. Not everyone who says that he is a believer is truly a follower of God. The distinction is based on God's work in that person's heart to change them and make them better.
So I say, that atheists are living proof that God exists. Their denial of him proves that there is something to deny in the first place. Proof is in the eye of the beholder. We only call it proof when we want to believe it. We say that everything is relative, which is really just a motto for a people who want to believe only what they choose to see. The answer to the question of God's existence is only there if you choose to see it.
