The human race has portrayed bad habits for centuries. We get into wars, drink too much, smoke, eat too much, worry too much about who has what, lie, cheat, murder and steal which is why prisons are overflowing. Children are free to absorb violence, bad language from a far cry of a kind moral system, which has desensitized the possibility of a stronger nation. Unfortunately, the news pounds out negative stories as if nothing good in the world exists. What would our world be like if what people read, saw and learned lay down groundwork for the good things we are all capable of? Kindness, giving, respecting our elders (they offer the wisdom the younger generation lacks and needs) or what about the simple rule I remember being taught as a child "Do the right thing."
I am more concerned about our rights being deceivingly taken away. I don't believe living underneath the government's thumb is a place we will want to stay for long. The new chip that is being produced is a small as a grain of salt. How will you feel when a stranger with more money and power knows everything you eat, drink, places you go and where you are when you go for that retreating vacation you so deserve. No one is perfect, but our privacy and rights are flying out the windows of everyone. It takes one person to take one idea and cultivate it. It may be good or bad, but when it gets in the hands of money and power for some reason it seems to take on a life of it's own.
My first trip to NYC was in the fall of last year. I was doing a photography shoot for a trade magazine for a high dollar antique show. I found it hard to watch thousands of dollars being spent on something people could take home and display when I had to walk around someone sleeping on the sidewalk to get there. To me that story was the heartfelt one that our lack of caring and morals has created.
One thing is guaranteed; when we come into this world we will all do two things. Live and Die. The world is in chaos in a thousand ways. Maybe we need a panel of the heart of society to join hands and say, Let's change this now!"
