Wicca explained

Wicca is not an ancient religion, in fact many people agree that it came about in the mid-1900's (1950-ish). It's roots, however, are buried deep in ancient Pagan practices.

Wicca is not a form of Satanic worship. Satan is the creation of Christianity and only present in the Christian religions. Wiccan's do not believe in Heaven or Hell, nor do they believe in one God or Satan. Wiccan's worship many gods/goddesses and believe in the power that surrounds them.

In general, Wiccan's do not practice "black magic". There is a Wiccan rede that basically says do as you want as long you harm no one.

There are women and men involved in Wicca. Both genders are called witches, not just women. It's a common misconception that male witches are called warlocks. Warlock means "oath-breaker" and many male witches will find this offensive.

Wiccan's often practice either alone or in groups of 3 or more, called a coven. In a coven there is a high priest/priestess that oversees the rituals.

Wiccan's celebrate the solstices (spring, summer, fall, and winter). Many religious holidays/symbols of Christianity also come from this Pagan practice.

In Wicca there is no big magic spell book that every witch has access to. Instead each witch creates their own Book of Shadows.

Although there is a lot to know about Wicca, as with every other religion, I've tried to give you a very basic breakdown of the religion and the general things you should know.
