Where are the fish biting? Believe it or not, your best bet may be the Weather Channel!  They're created a dedicated web page just for fishing reports which provides a graph for the entire day indicating when fishing will be fair, good, and excellent. Input the name of any lake in the United States and they'll provide a report, or even just the name of a city or a zip code! (And if you don't know the name of all the lakes in your state, they provide a handy list.) But my favorite feature of this site is their "catch of the day", which features a tempting photograph of actual fish that were recently caught.

There's many other web sites which will claim to offer daily reports for any region.  For example, Sport Fishing Report.com, which even promise reports on different kinds of fishing, including freshwater, saltwater, and fly fishing.  But click around and you'll discover that their coverage is a little spotty, and for some areas fishing reports simply aren't available. Most fishing report sites tend to be hit-or-miss, relying mostly on random users to submit their reports, when what you really want is reliable local information.

Fortunately, fishing is an important draw for tourists, so most states try to offer helpful and accurate fishing information online through their Department of Fish and Wildlife. Here's direct links to fishing reports for more than half the states in America!
