The beginning is the sweetest,
with the little lies and the wonderful words.
Each charming sentence like a kiss on the cheek,
wrapping you into a game you are incapable of playing.
You say to yourself,
This is only the start,
no one knows where it might lead.
But no matter what happens,
I will be okay in the end.
Then you’re holding hands,
waltzing through places in a separate world.
Completely euphoric, completely oblivious,
completely naïve.
Then you’re exchanging words of affection,
fondness,
caring.
Love.
And you think,
This is it.
This is the one.
And then,
everything ends.
And you’re left alone,
in the middle of the night,
wondering where you went wrong,
and why are they not in your arms tonight?
You’re choked up.
You can’t look at them.
You can’t glance their direction.
They play your game,
give you sympathy,
say that they miss you,
but that it just wasn’t right.
You call their bluff.
Their lies.
Their twisted language.
Everything inside of you is broken.
Little cords are snapping and dishes are shattering,
nothing is wonderful. Nothing is beautiful.
Then one day,
you wake up.
You can breathe again.
You realize that your heart can take care of itself,
and that it does, in fact,
heal.

Set on fire, a catalyst self imposed
Yet the water cannot quench the pain that scorches
In the midst of the smoke and ash
by Kevin Garcia
What do you do…
When your only source of happiness leaves you
How do you feel…
When none of what you thought
Feeling heartbreak
Not hard to do
Here among the humans
We expect someone to love us
to give us all we need
All we expect
Think
It feels as if you're invisible.
You want to scream, "Do I exist?"
Without him will my dreams come true?
Does anyone hear my
Our separation is absolute,
unlike the shards
of broken glass.
At least the scattered shards
get swept, dumped and
lumped together
