How online freelance writing can be a safe career choice

There are few careers which can be deemed to be a safe choice in times of economic upheaval and uncertainty. Those which do afford the possibility, however, should be grasped with both hands by those who have the opportunity to do so, in order to maximise one’s chances of knowing at least some form of regular income which is as guaranteed as can reasonably be expected.

Understanding how online freelance writing can be a safe career choice naturally requires in the first instance that one have a sound understanding of how payment is generated by the act of online freelance writing. There are a number of ways which this factor is achieved, however, and exploration in detail should be carefully undertaken.

The first and most certain way in which one can receive payment for online freelance writing is where a fixed payment is made for a piece of writing being submitted to a writing site. There are a number of sites which afford this opportunity but care should be taken as the level of payment made in the long term may very well depend upon the performance of the writing one submits upon the site. Essentially, good quality writing which is well received on the site and beyond can lead to one’s payment rate increasing per submission but on the reverse side, writing which is deemed to be of a lesser standard can lead to one’s rate decreasing. What one has to do in this respect, therefore, is ensure that all submissions made are of the very highest quality one can make them and hope that others will share their opinion.

Online freelance writing can also be a safe career choice in consideration of the fact that the Internet is still continuing to grow on an ongoing basis. This not only means that the competition from more online writing sites will in many instances lead to sites paying a higher level of revenue in order to retain the services of their best freelance writers, it can mean that increased Internet traffic can lead to more page views and increased revenue which is paid on this basis. Some sites pay simply upon the number of unique page views a piece of writing attracts, others will pay upon the value of perhaps Google Adsense revenue obtained from same and still others will employ a complex blend of both considerations when calculating the level of revenue due to be paid to their writers.

Freelance online writing will mean that as one’s career develops, one will have an ever increasing level of content online from which one hopes to generate ongoing revenue. In theory, this should mean that the residual income which one obtains from previously submitted online freelance writing articles should grow in direct proportion. Where this of course can never be guaranteed, the theory is sound and provided one maintains the quality of one’s freelance writing in the different ways in which it is necessary to do so and one employs the required promotional techniques for promoting same, this effect should be noticed to at least some significant extent.
