" American Justice", hosted by Bill Kurtis, is a reality news show that explores real criminal cases from around the country. Found on the A&E cable station , "American Justice" premiered in 1992. Each episode explores a single case from the different perspectives of all involved, including the family of the victim, accused, police, and the legal system. For fans of the criminal justice genre, this is a real life, " must see" show.

Host Bill Kurtis walks the viewer through each stage of the featured criminal case. Each participant is treated with respect and the viewer receives a balanced view of the entire case. Unless the defendant is dressed in prison garb, often times the outcome of the featured crime and subsequent investigation is left unresolved for the viewer until the end of the broadcast. This format keeps the viewer on the edge of her seat until all sides of the issue have been presented.

Fans of 'Law and Order" will enjoy this show. While the drama is real, and not the product of Hollywood, it is riveting none the less. The viewer receives a real life view of our countries' criminal justice system instead of a fictionalized television drama. The A&E television show does not condescend to its' viewers, the issues are presented in a factual and non sensationalized manner, at least by television standards.

Check you local listings to give this A&E show a try. Real life can be stranger than fiction.
