Racial profiling of Muslims in America

Can America afford not to be careful?

This is the real question that needs to be asked first and foremost. Look the other way. Pretend there is no giant elephant in the room. Be politically correct always. And in so doing, quite possibly get yourself and countless others killed. Innocent children, ministers, mothers, fathers, friends, aunts, uncles, and even undesirables; wiped out in one full swoop. All because one could not open their eyes to the potential for danger. Which is always there - whether we want to acknowledge it or not, whether we should acknowledge it, that elephant is indeed there.

The fact remains the same: Extremist's are extremely dangerous. One cannot tell an extremist at a glance. What we do know is that since September 11th extremists are here. They are wherever the so-called Imbeciles are, and like it or lump it, America is chocked full of imbeciles (under the Muslim definition of the word).

Of course not all Muslims are extremists. Not all cowboys are good guys, not all teenage black boys are gangsters, not all southern white men are racists, not all blondes are dumb, not all ex-con's are dangerous, not all Asians have high I.Q.'s, not all Irish drink; but enough are to be stereotyped this way.

There is some truth to these sayings and cliché’s. Do we ignore the signs at our own peril just to be politically correct? Where is the logic in that?

While going through security at the airport one may witness this tired scene: There are hundreds going through security – but only a handful are pulled out to get the extra treatment. Notice anything specific during the extra vigilance? Those that are “pulled out” are not Muslim.

They are elderly grandmothers, green-eyed blondes with freckles, middle-aged white males in business attire. It would certainly seem to many people that the security at the airport is actually going way out of their way not to appear to be profiling.

Have they been ordered not to, or are they so afraid of being accused of racial profiling that they take those special precautions not to be caught in the act? And by not checking those that may actually be dangerous or harbor hate for the Americans they are flying with make any of us safer? Somehow this woman highly doubts it very much.

Yes, profiling is scary. Yes, profiling can be perceived as wrong. But if anyone of us thinks for one moment that it does not go on would be utterly ridiculous. It must go on. It must happen every hour of every day for the simple reason to protect those of us in these great United States from the terrors that may find us completely unaware.

Horrors that not one of us deserves; that not one of us can stop on our own. Thank God for those that is watching. Those who are aware of the danger that is out there. Those who do not stop being vigilant because some of us are too sensitive to do the right thing when it seems so wrong.
