Poetry: Leaves

by Tyrone Graham

Created on: March 15, 2010

Leaves

      Leaves scatter

before the wind

over the sidewalk, random

rasps and scrapes

before a whim.

      Laying and lifting,

rising and falling,

they drift: aimless

to their accidental ends …

swept into suttee

or a slower compost:

but with warmth

rarely wasted –

leaves, ruled at random.
