Well, I have seen tough questons before, but this one really is in my top ten! Technically, there is no best Mario game because people have different opinions on their favourite Mario game! But instead, I will give you my top three Mario games so if you don't agree on my actual favourite Mario game, perhaps you would like to try my second favourite. So here we go; my top three Super Mario games (this really did take ages for me to figure out) but I have come to my conclusion so here they are, starting from third best game down to my absolute favourite game (these don't include other Mario games such as the Super Mario Kart series or other Mario spin off games, just his proper platforming games.)

3. Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)

Super Mario 64 was the first jump into 3D for Mario and it really didn't disappoint. For the first time, you could control Mario in a 3D environment whether it was collecting the power stars in a level, fighting against bowser or just exploring the castle grounds. Super Mario 64 was a masterpiece of a game with the brilliantly designed levels, the varied ways you obtained the power stars, the moves mario could perform, fighting bowser in a whole new way! Everything about this game set the benchmark on how 3D platformers should be, just like super mario bros on the NES set the way 2D titles should be played. All these things and more make this my third favourite super mario title ever!

2. Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo Wii)

Super Mario galaxy did what Super Mario 64 did but perfected it and also added new brillant ideas in there as well. Super Mario Galaxy was the third proper Mario title to be released on a Nintendo console and after the release of Super Mario Sunshine (which was a good game, but not the best that Mario had to offer,) people were looking forward to this game with the classic Mario platforming in 3D without having a souped up garden hose on your back! When the game was finally released it was truly stunning from the graphics to the game play to the music, everything was what a mario game should be it was a very welcomed return to genius 3D platforming at it's best. The thing that made galaxy so good was quite a lot of things: the new platforming aspects in the way that mario could walk upside down and on walls because of the gravity on the planets. The varied different galaxies: whether it was a galaxy made out of various deserts or a planet made of water or just a simple beach type galaxy many variates were available which
