How to eat healthy

Eating healthy should be a major priority in everyone’s life as such will have long term effects on every human being.  Eating healthy is also about eating smart and this will help to prevent some major illnesses of the body. The effects of unhealthy eating habits are numerous and illnesses that can occur from such include diabetes, cancer, heart diseases, iron deficiency anemia, high blood pressure, tooth decay and depression. Eating healthy might seem difficult at times especially because of a tedious schedules but we must take the time to do so wisely as eating is essential for living. We should make sure that we eat the proper nutrients, drink enough water and eat from the main food groups.

Variety is a great method for healthy eating habits, by doing such we are provided with the different nutrients that the body needs. Eating healthy doesn’t mean that we totally eradicate snacks and other sweets that are so heavily enjoyed, but eating these should be done in moderation and not excessively. Having a snack every now and then is not harmful, it is important that we keep everything balanced.

Eating healthy also require eating from the major food groups these include diary foods, fats and sugar, protein, starch, fruits and vegetable. Food including fat and sugar should be eaten as the body requires such as a source of energy, however only occasionally as too much may result in one having even a heart attack. Such food includes cakes; pudding, butter and others.

Most carbohydrates come from starch and indeed carbohydrates are essential to the body as it is a source of energy; however we must make sure that this intake is reasonable as too much will cause an imbalance to the blood sugar level. Carbohydrates can be found in food such as banana, barley, beans, brown rice, nuts, oats, potatoes and a whole variety of other foods.  Protein too is a source of energy and helps in the repair of tissues in one’s body. Food with protein includes meat, eggs, milk and cheese.

Fruits and vegetable consist of mineral, some vitamins and nutrients. Eating fruits help in lowering cholesterol, losing weight and reducing stress. Fiber in the body is also essential as it helps the intestines in its proper function, nuts, grains and fruit contain fiber. Water is very important in ones daily diet and it is required that one drinks 6-8 glasses per day. This helps to keep the body hydrated, release toxin in the body and keep teeth healthy.  

Above are just a few tips in a healthier lifestyle, life is precious and we should be around to enjoy it to the fullest. Remember you are what you eat!
