Benefits of fitness for your mind
We may all know that fitness and training exercises are very good for our physical health. However, exercise also plays a very important role in our mental well being. The brain releases endorphins when you are exercising. These chemicals transform into feel good hormones which in turn give us a sense of well being and can act as mood enhancers. It is very useful for people suffering from mood related problems like depression and anxiety and it also helps relieve stress.
Self esteem is a very important part of your overall wellness. If for some reason you are not happy with the way you look, then this will not help you mentally. Once you start a fitness exercise program and you start to feel the difference in your body and others begin to comment on the changes, then you will feel very contented with your exercise program.
Another nice point to know is that when you are working you are actually losing energy, however when you are exercising you are gaining energy. After a proper workout you will feel rejuvenated and full of energy. If for some reason you don't feel good about a workout then maybe there can be something you are not doing right and you should seek the guidance of a medical practitioner before you continue. He will be able to give you the required guidance.
In addition, exercise increases your metabolism, which means that although you will feel hungrier and you may be eating well or even more than before, it really does not make any difference to your body mass and you may actually be losing weight. That is wonderful news to your brain, which may have been having many problems trying to avoid all the nice foods. The mechanism balances itself because you are not negating what you want and you see the difference immediately.
Yoga and meditation are a kind of fitness regime which works directly with your mental body and allows it to de-stress and relax making it easier to cope with the problems of everyday life. It is therefore advised that next time you don't feel like going to the gym and doing all those exercises because you are too tired and can handle the extra stress, remember all the good things that a session can do to your body and to your mind and get on with it. You can then go home and relax all you want after that.
