Acne is one of the most common skin disorders and although breakouts are commonly associated with teenagers it is not uncommon for adults up to the age of forty to experience breakouts. The condition occurs when the oil glands become blocked by the cells that are close to the skin's surface. This causes the surrounding skin to become inflamed due to bacteria that forms.Acne can be caused by a several things. There are some individuals that have oily skin and are more prone to breakouts.

It is important to wash after exercising because increased sweat can cause Wearing tight clothing or carrying a heavy bag results in skin irritation which can cause body acne. Body acne can be difficult to get rid of since there are more surface oils in this area and the skin is thicker which makes it more resistant to treatments. It creates a problem in warm weather when wearing tank tops, sleeveless or backless dresses and bathing suits are the norm.

Pimples, pustules, blackheads, white heads and cysts are all forms of acne. The skin disorder can appear on different areas of the body but generally occur where a lot of oil is produced. Common affected areas include the face, chest and back. The best way to treat acne is to unclog the skin's pores, kill the bacteria that is beneath the surface and minimize oil.

Use a Mild Soap or Cleanser to Get Rid of Acne

Clean the area with a gentle, mild soap or cleanser. You can use a sugar scrub, loofah, washcloth. There are some cleansers that are specifically designed to be used on oily skin. These skin care treatments will get rid of excess oil. It is important to use a clean the affected area because this will take off dirt and debris.

Get Rid of Acne by Exfoliating

Exfoliating is an important step in getting rid of acne because skin becomes smooth and clear. There are many types of exfoliators. Some can be used in the shower as a body scrub. Others are used just on the face before bed. A homemade skincare treatment can be made using baking soda. Mix three parts baking soda to one part water for this treatment. It creates a thick paste that can be used to scrub the skin. It is important to discontinue any product that causes irritation. Also make sure you do not over-exfoliate since that can chafe the skin and create more problems.

Choose a Good Toner

The next step to treat acne is to use a good toner to clear up skin and keep it clean. You can use lemon or witch hazel for combination skin and 3% Hydrogon Peroxide for oily skin. In severe cases rubbing alcohol can be used, however, this can really dry the skin out so caution should be used.

 Medicated  Cream to Eliminate Acne

Choose a cream containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or glycolic acid. The most effective acne treatments contain these products. Benzoil peroxide is effective but it is very drying on the skin. You should follow directions on the package and avoid overusing. This product can also cause clothes, pillow cases and fabrics to become bleached if you touch them soon after applying benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid works as an exfoliator to peel away dead skin from the surface while removing oil. Glycolic acid works as a skin peel. Old skin is removed from the surface and sloughed off. Avoid overusing products containing salicylic acid and glycolic acid.

There are many effective acne treatments. However, the best way to get rid of acne is to treat it by using cleansers, exfoliating and applying a medicated toner or cream. Clear skin is achievable!
