Some people do it to see if they can get away with it. Some do it to reap the financial gain from it. Some people do it because they are addicted to doing it.I think it is something you can get in your blood and just love the thrill you get from doing it.It is like a high for some people.
There are some people who do it just because they are bored and need to take chances in order to be happy.It is like an adrenalin rush for some. Some people just covet your belongings and are jealous so they want to strip you of your belongings. There are many reasons people steal and some say that they do it in order to make ends meet and live.
Either way, it is not right to take what is not rightfully yours. It does not pay off when you get caught. I would rather give someone something then to have them steal it from me.
