The contestants on The Biggest Loser lose a tremendous amount of weight. How? They have a complete diet and exercise regimen make-over. These people did not get to be contestants on a weight loss show because they eat healthy and exercise. The dramatic changes in their diet allow them to lose large amounts of weight.The working out causes them to burn off more calories than they aer taking in and the result is weight loss.
Not to suggest it is done in an unhealthy manner. The calories they are eating are now healthy. The show has trained nutritionists to plan out their meals. They have an expert panel of registered dietitians, doctors and others specializing in weight loss. People on the show are no longer able to run to McDonald's for dinner or eat a bag of Oreos for dessert whenever they feel like it. They are eating the food that is provided to them.
Another reason the contestants are able to lose so much weight is that this is their life's focus during the show. They are all living together on a ranch, in a mansion wherever it is they have them. They have no choice but to eat what is given to them and workout and do the challenges when they are told to.
They are not going to work everyday, they are not running around dropping the kids off at soccer and scrambling to make dinner. The tresses of everyday life that often cause people to overeat and rob people of the time they would use to exercises are gone. This alone has a huge impact on the contestants.
Each team has a personal trainer. These personal trainers are there to ensure they work-out, they do it properly and that they actually work and break a sweat. Most of the contestants say they never work out. Many of the excersizes these people are doing, a normal healthy, active person would struggle with. But these people are on the show for a reason and failure is not an option.
It is hard for me to imagine someone not losing a large amount of weight on this show. The more weight people have to lose combined with the drastic changes in diet and working out, the results are going to be impressive. Someone who was only overweight about 20 pounds would not do as well no this show. Working out and eating a new limited calorie, healthy diet will help anyone to lose weight.
