Cures for diaper rash

Sooner or later every parent has to live with an irritable baby who suffers a diaper rash. It’s not fun and it can be quite tiring. Not to mention nobody wants to see their baby in pain and suffering. Below are some home remedies for diaper rash to try before breaking down and taking the baby to the doctor, that some people swear by. Most are simple and include items commonly found in a home.

Breast Milk - This may be a good option for a woman who is already breastfeeding. The breast milk has natural antibodies that will help fight minor infection. Just pour it on the affected area and allow to air dry before replacing the diaper.

Browned Flour – Brown some flour in a pan and allow to cool. Sprinkle the affected area with the browned flour at every diaper change. Use in place of baby powder.

Maalox – Pour Maalox on the affected area at every diaper change. Maalox is an over-the-counter product to reduce stomach acid and will protect the rash by reducing acid in the baby’s bowel movements.

Blow Dry – Blow dry the baby’s bottom at every diaper change. It helps make sure the baby is completely dry before replacing the diaper and the warm air feels good to the baby. Make sure the air coming from the blow dryer isn’t too hot.

Athlete’s Foot Cream – If the rash is caused by a yeast infection then athlete’s foot cream is probably the best solution. It doesn’t matter what brand. Athlete’s foot cream has the same active ingredients as yeast infection products for women. By treating the yeast infection it becomes easier to cure the diaper rash. If the rash is caused by yeast infection, it is a good idea to refrain from using baby powder as yeast infection feeds off of it.

The remedies listed above are not the only home remedies out there, however if all of the remedies were listed in one place the page would go on forever. There are many home remedies for diaper rash out there and there’s no way to tell which ones will work for each individual. So try some of these and maybe do some more research and find out what works. Good luck!
