Shattered
Screams in an instant
impact of steel and glass,
Life gone in a moment
forgotten before it had time to pass.
Dark and dismal city streets
became her dying fate
the gray and urban blight
of a life never lived until it was far,far too late
And the blaring sirens sounded
as the towed the remains away
and strangers shook their heads
and went upon their day.
Shattered dreams once gallant
but now just a faded memory
hopes gone in a moment
as she struggled to be free.

within their reddened eyes
and spoke of a lovely spirit
who was compassionate, creative and wise.
One by one they echoed tales of her undaunted faith
and a sense of goodness that exposed a lonely soul
that struggled to fulfill her heart
to once more be whole.
And then it was over
and they all walked in line
speaking of a precious memory
shattered and lost forever to a place so utterly divine.
