Poetry: Running away

by Nel Chong

Created on: March 11, 2010

See that little shadow over there?

small and puny like a hare

It tip-toed and slided along the edge

as though walking on a dozen eggs

Shaking breathing sweating out

There's not a penny in that shell

to shoul out loud

"Get out! Get out! Get out!"

That is why it can only do what it can do

to run away like a fumbling fool

while that nasty big thug named Fear

stood up tall and mighty and hail

"Foolish fool! Foolish fool!"

its echo ran down deep and cold

While that fool, crept down and cried

and cried and cried...

till old
