Can music produce the same effects and dangers as drug use

by Nadie Gehring

Created on: March 11, 2010

How can one think that music can be as damaging as drug use?  Maybe only the feeble minds of the people that don't really understand music to begin with would even question that one.

Words put down on paper then  put into music for the world to listen to can't be anything less then enjoyable.

Thoughts of what someone feels in their heart n soul brought forth for the entertainment of others can only be distinguished as pure pleasure to enjoy.

Different music written for different tastes.  It's incredible to begin with , that there are people that are so talented to write notes to turn words into  music.

Not everyone enjoys the same kinds of music, finding that rock would be enjoyable by some and hated by others just like heavy metal or country but that doesn't mean you can declare music as damaging as drug use.

It's in the sick and twisted mind of whoever is listening to the music to turn the melody into something it's not intended to do other then satisfy your enjoyment.

Words can be taken out of context just like in a conversation but highly doubtful that music can  be as damaging as sniffing a line of coke up your nose or sticking a needle in your arm and sitting back and getting wasted of out of your tree!

Some sick deprived idiot sitting back shooting heroin in his vein probably didn't take into consideration a song at that moment that drove him to do it.

A crack junkie, heroin addict, acid freak,  LSD nobody mixed along with the idiot who just took to much ecstasy and the whoever that decided that Lysol snorted is better then using it to clean your floor, along with the ones that figure heating up rat poison in a bowl and smoking it  maybe perhaps were listening to music at the time but  it wasn't the music itself that drove them to do drugs.  It's their head that's twisted up, not as a result of the music.

Listening to music is a pleasure  to have around in this world , no matter if it's sad crying your eyes out country or blues or the rock n roll of yesterday , today and tomorrow to come, maybe perhaps heavy metal is your thing  or the rap that just to some makes you want to get up and change the station or the CD and to others it gets their motor running .  Whatever way you look at music it's anything but destructive as drug use is.

Sit back and listen to music and be thankful to the ones that are so smart that they know how to write music to begin with. If you're going to blame music as destructive , you might as well throw in all media in general.  That includes movies, TV news and your local newspaper.

Music has been around for thousands of years, it's only recently that few have brought to the attention that it might coincide with problems of people might have.

Let's make music a scapegoat people.  NOT!
