The best scenario when getting laid off is to stay in a positive frame of mind. Oddly, getting laid off could actually be a blessing in disguise, depending on how you look at this situation. This will give you an opportunity to take a break from the daily grind of the job, and rejuvenate your energy levels from stress that has building up to the lay-off date. This seems to always create a little apprehension and nervous energy at the thought of being laid off. A fear of the unknown can feel a little unsettling sometimes. Exercising a positive attitude at this time can make the lay-off period feel less stressful.
Staying positive will let you take this time to enjoy the simpler things in life for yourself that you could not do before with your work schedule. Things happen for a reason, maybe you were due for some time off to spend quality time with your family that needed your utmost attention at this time. Put your focus and attention on loving and caring for your family. You may now finally find some time to do some much needed repairs on and around the house that time never permitted you to do before. Positive thinking can help you get alot of things done that you have had to put off due to your work schedule.
A positive approach will make you feel like you are not wasting your time, you will be making up for lost time in the "living" department. You spend half your time at work and when you finally get a break, you're usually too tired to do the things that you love to do. Think positive, now you will have real time to enjoy the hobbies you love. Take advantage of this time to rejuvenate and renew your sense of humor again. All work and no play makes for a lot of bad days! Being laid off means you will go back to work one day. You will work your entire life away if you don't slow down and take time to breathe a little fresh air and create some happiness in your life.
The way to stay positive when laid off is to observe your happiness scale at this point, and with this free time on your hands, decide if the lifestyle you have been living is the right one for you. This lay-off may be your chance to change what you don't like for a happier future.
