What to do when the person you love is moving away? Don't say goodbye, say I'll see you soon! I recently experienced this and although I can't tell the next person what to do, I can help the next person learn from my mistakes.

Spending as much time as possible with your significant other is something I won't elaborate on, it's simple logic. I will elaborate on communication between the two people while you guys are spending your last few days together. It's important for both parties to discuss how they feel about the situation. Most likely the discussion won't be too heart warming, but it will help get both people on the right track. Along with discussing how you feel, you need to know where you each stand as far as one person leaving. Decide if you guys would like to continue to be in relationship when one partner leaves, etc. It's not all about making a plan, but it's about being clear of what may happen/take place.

Long distance is long distance and long distance relationships hardly work, but they can. If you and the one you love decided to continue into a long distance relationship, learn how to make a long distance relationship work. First and foremost, being away from a partner means it's also easier to push your partner away. Try to settle arguments and confrontations as smooth and quick as possible. In fact try to avoid arguments and confrontations all together. It's important to understand that when it comes to long distance relationships, it's easy for a partner to stray, because your not there. Keep in contact as much as possible, write letters, call, email, etc. and when the two of you talk, make those conversations worthwhile.

If you and the one you love decided to be friends beforehand, truly be a friend. A friend is someone who is there regardless. Be there for the one you love. Understand that your partner is moving, not you and moving isn't easy. He or she will face some hard/rough times and it's important to be a friend and be there in these situations. This will remind them that you do care, that you are there and that you do love them.

When the going gets tough, look on the bright side and you can even look on the bright side from the start. If you truly love somone who is moving away, through the midst of it all you will truly find out. It's almost like a test, a test of love and it's up to the both of you to pass it. Will you meet someone new, will the other meet someone new, will you move on, will the other move on, etc. You may find out love was just lust, but most importantly you may find out that, the one you love, is truly the love of your life
