Way back in 1969 it was rumoured that Paul McCartney died in a car accident on the 9th of November 1966 and The Beatles had introduced a stand in to cover up his death. This was at a time when The Beatles looked to be on the verge of a break up. The rumour of Paul's death suddenly appeared after a college student had written a project, which appeared in the college newspaper about Paul's death based on clues he gathered from various sources including clues in The Beatles songs and album covers. It was not long until a radio DJ called Russell Gibb who worked for WKNR-FM radio in Detroit received a phone call from someone known only as Tom who told Russell that Paul McCartney was dead and has been replaced by a look-alike. Tom also told Russell about the some of the clues that were left including the cover of Abbey Road, which is said to be picturing a funeral procession with Paul being the corpse.
Rolling Stones magazine claimed that they had been told about the rumour and also had been told about some clues in 1968 because they didn't believe it as so many people had seen Paul alive and well. It was also revealed that here in the UK the rumours had existed since 1967. For those of you who intend to read on, let me tell you now that the truth is that Sir Paul McCartney is NOT dead.
The rumours regarding Paul's death had claimed that on the 9th of November 1966 at 5 o clock Paul McCartney was driving his car. Whilst driving along he noticed a very pretty meter maid and as her was too busy looking at her he didn't see that the lights had changed to red thus causing him to crash. He didn't die from the crash but had lost all the teeth. The car burst into flames and burnt all his hair off. He later died before he was rescued from the burning wreckage. The truth is that this accident really did happen but it wasn't Paul who was driving that car. Some people say that the guy was called Paul and The Beatles actually knew him. They certainly knew about this accident, as it would take centre stage in their song A Day In The Life'. It is also true that on the 9th of November 1966 Paul McCartney had an accident. He actually had an accident on his motorcycle, which resulted in minor injuries including a lost tooth and a cut on his lip, which later left a faint scar.
So why are there still so many articles about it on the Internet and why was it such a popular theory? Well there are just so many clues to suggest that Paul is dead however some of them that I have read whilst
