The strength of your corporate identity determines your success on Facebook. With over 400 million active users, Facebook offers a way to easily make contact and build relationships with clients and prospects. If you’re just starting to build your profile, here are a few considerations to help you put your best face forward and create a stellar corporate identity on Facebook.
1) Know Your Target Market
Who are you trying to reach? Online businesses need to have some idea of who will benefit from their product or service in order to establish the right corporate identity for them. For example, will women prefer your business over men? Does your business appeal to the younger generation or are you trying to reach the 35 years and over crowd? Facebook offers the advantage of providing you with access to basic demographics such as age, location, marital status, email addresses, and of course, a consumer’s likes and dislikes.
2) Complete Your Facebook Profile
Your Facebook profile is your communication tool that lets others know what your business is about and works to establish your business presence. While having a complete profile is not always necessary, the more information you offer gives your fans a better idea of who they’re deciding to connect to. This is the place to really sell your expertise, your benefits, and provide people with reasons why they should be connected to you. Additionally, a complete profile gives your business a better chance in being findable on the network.
3) Update Your Status
Updating your status is one of your marketing tools in creating a corporate identity. How you communicate and what you communicate creates an image in your customer’s and potential client’s minds about you. What is the tone of your posts? Are your posts edgy? Do you just promote products and events? What value do you really offer and how can people benefit from you? How can you take a simple advertising message and turn it in to something fun and engaging that grabs your audience’s attention? This is where your passion and creativity has to kick in to set you a notch above the rest. Otherwise, you’re no better than the next guy who’s probably read the same books and is doing the same thing as you.
4) Create Your Own Group or Fan Page
A group or fan page provides the means for interaction between you and your fans. This is where you can ask your fans what they thought about your latest event. This is also a place where you can answer questions and engage your audience. This is another important aspect in creating and establishing your corporate identity because it works to build brand loyalty by strengthening the relationship you have with your fans.
5) Join or Start an Event in Your Area
Promotion helps to establish your corporate identity on Facebook, but one side benefit your business can benefit from is gaining attention from the offline community. Your corporate identity goes beyond Facebook and offline promotions are essential to establishing your business presence.
Facebook offers businesses many tools to create and establish a corporate identity. Business owners will find that Facebook eliminates a lot of work required in gaining customers’ attention which enables them the ability to focus on bringing fresh and creative ways to engage their target market.
