Daily habits to ensure a healthy life

Health is the most important thing in life. Without health nothing really matters much. It's something that should be put at the top of your priority list when it comes to looking after yourself and enjoying life. Enjoying a healthy life isn't difficult. Even if you have made mistakes in the past, you can undo them and create daily habits to ensure a healthy life. It's not too late.

1 – Include fruit and vegetables every single day. The recommended daily intake of fruit and vegetables is two servings of fruit and five servings of vegetables. That may seem like a lot but it really isn't. Two pieces of fruit, a salad sandwich at lunch and salad or vegetables at dinner can provide you with your daily intake.

2 – Drink enough water. Seventy per cent of our bodies are made up of water. Everybody is different and while on person will require eight glasses per day another may require sixteen. Thirst is an indication that you are already dehydrated, so it's better to have a bottle or glass of water on hand all day long.

3 – Take time to enjoy the moment instead of just stressing out about everything. By learning to relax at the end of every day you will improve your health and reduce your overall stress levels. Stress is a killer. It's dangerous to our health. Daily relaxation techniques will ensure a healthier life.

4 – Learn to love exercise. Exercise benefits the body, heart and mind. Including a dose of exercise every day whether it's aerobic, resistance or flexibility to ensure a healthy life. Avoiding exercise can lead to many diseases later in life, including exercise can act as a preventative medicine for the future.

5 – Reduce your portion sizes. Many people eat too much food. Restaurants serve portions that are filled with unnecessary calories and home kitchens do the same. Swap your huge three meals throughout the day into five or six smaller ones every three or so hours. This way your stomach will reduce to its normal size and you will feel better and full of energy.

6 – Treat yourself from time to time. Depriving yourself of food that you enjoy is not going to do your health any favours. Chocolate, cake and junk food isn't necessarily the enemy. It's only a problem when it becomes an every day part of your diet. Enjoying a treat once a week is going to stop you from binging and bring pleasure into your life. Do it sporadically and your health will benefit.
