Torn and twisted by thoughts that are binding,
My bars are not of metal,
But of compassion.
Emanating false hopes to encourage.
When glimpses of the pain,
Tortured images of what could have been,
Seem to mark time's passage.
Slowly, slowly.
No escape!
To understand that freedom is no longer.
To attempt acceptance of bad choice.
And to what end?
To extend the torture,
To hope for some solace, or peace of mind.
This is what must be, but is it?
Seems but for grace the will is lost.
No escape.
But a light will give hope,
With penned words of release.
More freeing than freedom.
Write on dear brother, write on!
Shed tears as needed,
Cleansing, powerful tears of memory.
Tears for what could have been.
Just write.
Let the words flow and free your mind
Escape? Yes
No Escape? Yes

Poetry: No escape
The Escape
Sweet serenity, captures me; whisks me off to places unknown, scenes I’ve never flown.
Caressing
NO ESCAPE
Difficult is devoid of this frigid desire
Exhibiting no sense of appealing mood
Insomnia has chill all sensitivity
"NO" IS THE ONLY WORD I KNOW
I have no way of knowing
Whether I am coming or going,
Nor can I tell how long I will remain
Locked
She Sits In The Shadows
Children frolic in the fields
And dance along the beach,
Birds flap overhead
Well and truly out of reach.
by Gerard Quain
Car parks
Such lonely places
Driven, driven
Never at the races
Wagons circled to keep us in
No progress, in static places
