The Academy Awards always brings out the best and worst of the designing world.  The 82nd Academy Awards was no different – there were some red carpet winners with plenty of losers to match.  Seeing some of these expensive get-ups only shows that even Hollywood movie stars can lack style.  These glamour and glitz stars of the 2010 Oscars were some of the worst dressed on this year’s red carpet.

Charlize Theron

Two words – “Oh dear!”  What was Ms. Theron thinking when she wore that Vera Wang dress featuring the boob buns?  Although the color was absolutely stunning, she ranks at the top of being worst dressed on the red carpet simply due the unflattering breast highlights.

Molly Ringwald

Hey Molly, where is your Mark Antony?  Unsure if she was going for a modern day Cleopatra, Molly Ringwald strutted the red carpet in a vibrant purple silk sheet that clashed with her gorgeous red hair.  Her pale skin tone screamed for some sun as it reflected behind that purple shower curtain.

Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger’s red carpet dress looked like a roll of toilet paper after it had been vandalized by a herd of feral cats – and worse, she’s wearing part of one of those cats around her neck.  Another example of a Chanel gone wrong on this year’s red carpet.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

I believe that Maggie Gyllenhaal had her appointments a bit askew as she showed up at the Oscars in her Luau dress.  Now don’t get me wrong, that watercolor portrait plastered down her gorgeous body truly complimented Ms. Gyllenhaal, but this was the Oscars.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Oy vey!  Sarah’s sack dress not only looked unflattering, it just looked plain hideous!  Even during her award presentation, Ms. Parker looked completely uncomfortable as she was adjusting her neck wrap.  So it’s a Chanel, but I just don’t get it.

Mariah Carey

No surprise here.  Mariah Carey is known to go over-the-top but this time she went up, over, and ripped to the hip. The color complimented Ms. Carey and from the waist up, the dress really isn’t that bad.  But once you hit the split – it’s all over.

Jennifer Lopez

Grandma’s bedspread?  No wait, it’s a wedding dress from the set of Alice in Wonderland.  No?  Okay, perhaps quilted Northern on steroids.  Not only did J.Lo’s Armani dress not fit her appropriately, it made her famous assets look enormous.

Zoe Saldana

I know you did not wear that to the Oscars Ms. Saldana.  Her prom strobe light created by Givenchy was wrong, just plain wrong.  They weren’t smiling with you Zoe, they were blinded!

Vera Farmiga

I have never quite understood why anyone would purposely want to make the worst dressed list.  Ms. Farmiga’s Marchesa gown (and I say that lightly) screamed “look at me!”.  The twisting ruffles looked like a spiral sun catcher hanging from a front porch.

We can’t leave out the men here.  Some of the guys on the red carpet just didn’t have a clue but one stuck out over the rest.  Robert Downey, Jr. in his blue bow tie, glasses, and the tennis shoes – need I say more?
