She had a lifelong fear of the dark and could not get to sleep unless there was a little light on. She was scared of a mysterious bogeyman and of the possibility of being kidnapped. It was something she had discussed often with her parents. Her father would recall with bitter irony how he had assured his daughter "that everything would be all right, that he would always be there to protect her. So she snuggled up with her little stuffed animals, secure in her little world.
In my recollection I attempt to recall what heinous crime impacted me the most, and in my mind's eye I see a little girl in the privacy of her own home, in her own bedroom with little fears that little girls have. This was supposed to be a night of fun; a slumber party, two friends staying over. But out of the shadow came the unspeakable, and took Polly Klaas, and her worst fears became reality, the worst fears of her parents became reality.
Perhaps it is the passionate love I have for my own little sweetie pie that causes that case to lodge in my mind as the world's worst.
And so, with the backdrop of such calamity and unspeakable wickedness, it is ever more ludicrous, and almost blasphemous, to say that God created evil. All of a sudden we see God ‘allowing’ the horrors of the evil of our world: child molesters, terrorist attacks, 911, murderers, and not just the holocaust, but make that plural.
Regardless of whether or not a person believes the Bible to be a valid source of facts, I think that when taking all the evidence presented, the case for the above to be true is a strong one, and I challenge anyone to present a more probable case for the reasons we have such evil in the world today.
Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.
45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him
So. It is God that created evil. And, it is God that retains power
