The top SEO books on the market

by Glenn Magas

Getting started as an SEO expert for your own website, or as a profession, takes basic steps. The first is to familiarize yourself with why organic SEO is so important! SEO books will fill you in, but be warned that internet offers via email on free SEO books could be missing key ingredients to organic SEO.

Finding the right SEO book that teaches search engine optimization is key to organic SEO implementation.  The benefits of SEO is to drive your website, or a client’s website, to the top of Google’s search, based on what the user is searching.  If they search and find and click on your website, this is the ultimate form of organic SEO! If you can accomplish this, more traffic can be driven to your website which means more advertising revenue and/or sales.

Organic SEO is not a perfected science, as there are many rules of thumbs to follow. One is keyword density: which ranges between 3%-7%.  Experts differ in how they approach keyword density. There is also a balance of internal links and external links that need to be maintained within your copy, and a basic understanding of PR (Page Rank) and how to be competitive against other websites who score a higher page rank are just the levels that affect your rank in organic SEO and the levels with a webpage!

An SEO book that focuses on the goal for organic SEO can differ in levels of teaching.  A student who wants to achieve Internet marketing of a website through organic SEO may find a basic SEO book too basic, and a more ‘technical’  SEO book catered to organic SEO too complex. That being said, you can find a plethora of information in the following SEO books.

There are several different SEO books for Dummies on the bookshelf.  These three books are excellent starting points on diving head first into Search Engine Optimization and organic SEO.

1. SEO for Dummies series

Peter Kent’s “SEO for Dummies” is one of leading resources on how to make organic SEO happen. The 3rd ed. is completely updated to cover the newest changes, standards, tips, and tricks.

Bruce Clay’s book, “Search Engine Optimization All-In-One for Dummies” offers 10 minibooks that cover how search engine works as you strive for organic SEO. These 10 SEO minibooks offer keyword strategy, competitive positioning, web design for organic SEO, linking and international organic SEO and more! Along with all this information you get a $25 Google AdWords credit – which basically pays for the book! The value of this SEO book is incredible!

“Pay Per Click Search Engine Marketing for Dummies”, often called, SEM, also by Peter Kent, should go hand in hand for an SEO expert. Finding what marketing strategies work on a PPC basis is also important for organic SEO.

These three SEO books alone can immediately build your organic SEO knowledge from beginner to a ready to go, self-proclaimed SEO expert!

2. SEO: Search Engine Optimization Bible by Jerri Ledford

This SEO book covers SEM and SEO. The best part of this SEO book is how to develop your plan, as most new web builders just jump into ‘trying’ to get their website found through organic SEO instead of implementing a step by step plan of action on what their purpose is and what they want to accomplish.

If you are looking for an SEO Book that offers a step-by-step guide on how to optimize your website for SEO in order to drive more traffic to your site via organic SEO, this is not the book. But as a starter SEO book, this covers information that is important, as a broad view, which will immediately get you started on SEO and building a website.

After finishing this book, other books can support what you’ve learned to impress upon you important SEO strategy and implementation.
