Where to find crochet stitch guides online

The internet is a magnificent source for crochet stitch guides.   Novices and experts alike discover the abundant resources available in a few quick clicks online.   Crochet stich guides are an important tool for making every stitch perfect.  Whether you are learning the beginner's chain stitch or searching for the art of filet crochet, online stitch guides can contribute to your successful project.

An easy website to remember is learntocrochet.com.  This link will lead you straight to the  Lion Brand Yarn site.  The Learning Center on this web site is exceptional and provides video with full lessons in your choice of  English, Spanish or French.   As you are learning the stitch techniques, be sure to download or print a directory of abbreviations that are commonly used in crochet.  Having this resource close by will ease your frustration with the learning process and help you connect visually to the pattern or instructions at hand.

While you are learning a new stitch technique or two, look around the site for information on Crochet Clubs in your area for a personal connection to your new hobby.  The site also includes over 3,000 free patterns, free e-cards to send to your friends, and a list of needlework-oriented charity projects that can use your contributions.

Another excellent online resource is DMC Creative World.   This site is primarily slanted to fingering threads, but the stitches are the same even with different thickness of yarn or a different crochet hook or needle size.  The DMC Creative World website includes many free patterns and includes a designation of skill level required for each project.    The designs are fun and trendy and range from accessories to baby items to garments for adults.

Annie’s Attic is a website where, in no time at all, you will have a full cart with kits, books, instructions and more!  It is also a place to find dozens of crochet stitches and stitch variation instructions, but you will have to click on each one individually to view the step-by-step process. It is worth the price of that one extra click when you see color sketches of each stitch technique and even some video tutorials available for your education. Once you master the crochet lessons, you can use this same site for knitting lessons, cross stitch guides, plastic canvas techniques and even quilting lessons!   Annie’s Attic becomes the teacher when it comes to learning stitch techniques at www.freepatterns.com.  Through this site you can learn the latest trends and find, yes, even more free patterns!

If you are ready to start out in crochet or become a master of the art, these online resources will have you stitching competently in no time at all.  As a bonus, you will have a fun project so show off your new skills!
