I voted no. And the reason I did so is because:
a) There is no such thing as "Obamacare." It's called Affordable Health and is part of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. There is nothing on the table called "obamacare" that is being pushed through Congress against the wishes of the American people.
b) I believe that all Americans should have access to affordable and, if necessary, free health care.
There are three kinds of Americans on this issue: Those who can afford healthcare, those who cannot, and those who are lodged in between. The ones who can afford it and those who cannot afford it are covered. It's called federal benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, state healthcare and indigent care. The ones lodged in between are the problem.
For those who are in need of a quick history lesson, "Obamacare" is actually "Rooseveltcare." Teddy Roosevelt first lobbied for universal nationalized healthcare more than 100 years ago, so this debate is very old and has been put off long enough by Big Insurance and Big Pharma.
The only ones who really should be lobbying against it are those who have stocks invested in the insurance companies, it makes no sense for anyone else to oppose it because it doesn't affect them at all.
We are bleeding and sinking by the head in this current healthcare economy of profit or die, and if something is not done to stop it, to stop the death panels that have been in place for years, it's going to get worse.
People who do not work get free healthcare, people who are not American citizens get free healthcare, people who have never worked get free healthcare, people who can't work get free healthcare, people who work for the government get free healthcare at the expense of those who can't afford insurance for themselves. So who is being kicked to the curb in this "stop obamacare" message?
People who work and make minimum to little wages, and people who have worked all their lives to pay for healthcare for others and can't go to a doctor themselves when they need to.
This measure is not being "pushed through against the wishes of the American people." That is an openly blind statement that only takes certain Americans into account and not everyone.
This measure is being pushed through BECAUSE of the wishes of the American people, 2/3rds of whom elected President Obama to office to handle something that has been sitting on the table far too long and needs to go through. ALL the way through, to universal nationalized healthcare
