Oscar winners for the 82nd Academy Awards 2010

On a night where two men hosted, a single female stole the show.  Kathryn Bigelow was that woman and she became the first ever female director to win the Academy Award.  As a double bonus her film the Hurt Locker took the Oscar for best picture in a year where ten different films were up for nomination.

The Oscar for best leading female went to the runaway favorite Sandra Bullock. No real shocker there, as Sandra Bullock won her first Oscar and played a role that fit her personality as well as the real woman she was portraying in the Blindside.

Jeff Bridges also took home his first ever Oscar for his leading role in Crazy Heart. Jeff Bridges is one of those actors you thought had an Oscar already but his time was was here to strike gold.  Crazy Heart also took home Best Original Song.

Mo'nique might of brought more attention to herself about her open marriage conversation with the Barbara Walters special.  Nevertheless Mo'nique's role in Precious was larger and greater than some little controversy.

It pays to be bad, as the baddest Nazi of them all, took home the male supporting role as Christopher Waltz won Oscar for his role in  Inglorious Basterds.  The Quentin Tarantino film got some attention it richly deserved as a movie that got lost in the shuffle it seems.

Avatar might have been the most disappointed in the director and best picture category but the movie did receive its most deserving Oscar for Art Direction, Visual Effects and Cinematography. At least they can still say Avatar was the fan favorite in the world market as the biggest money winner in 2009.

Up won Oscar for best animated film, in addition to taking home best original score.  It was far and away the best animated film of 2010 in which even being old is hip.  It also helps to have a talking dog and a boy scout out to help the elderly.

In writing, the best adapted screenplay Oscar went to Precious meanwhile the best original screenplay went to the Hurt Locker.  No debating that but people felt like Up in the Air had a a fighter's chance for best adapted screenplay.

Lastly, in sound editing and mixing the Hurt Locker took gold home once again as 2010 will be known as the year of the Hurt Locker and Kathryn Bigelow making her big splash at the 82nd Academy Awards.

In summary, a good night for first time winners but not a good night for movies like Up in the Air which was a great film and had many nominations including best picture, best director, best adaptive screenplay, best male lead, best female lead as well as best supporting actress but all failed to collect any Oscars in 2010.
