Recipes: Beef stroganoff

If you are looking for a simple to prepare meal that is at once satisfying and nutritious look no further than this recipe for Beef Stroganoff. The ingredients are everyday items you probably have in your well-stocked pantry. From start to finish it shouldn’t take more than an hour and most of that time is just allowing it to simmer without much trouble from you. Once you try it you’ll come back to this one when your kitchen ego needs a well-deserved boost.



Ingredients:

1 ½ pounds beef round
1 large onion
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 ½ cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 10 oz package white mushrooms
1 cp sour cream
1/4 cup all purpose flour
16 oz package wide egg noodles
1 tbsp butter or margarine

Instructions:

1- Cut the meat into 1 inch pieces.
2- Chop the onion.
3- Heat oil in heavy pot and saute beef cubes and chopped onions until meat is browned and onions soft.
4- Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
5- Cover and allow to simmer until meat is tender 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6- Gently wash mushrooms and slice.
7- Add mushrooms to meat and simmer for another 5-10 minutes or until mushrooms are cooked but not mushy.
8- Blend the flour into the sour cream and then add to meat mixture.
9- Stir and cook for 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
10- Cook egg noodles according to package directions, drain and toss with butter.
11- Spoon the Stroganoff over the buttered noodles and serve.
12- Makes 4 servings and can easily be doubled.

This easy to make Beef Stroganoff served over buttered egg noodles and with crusty rolls will please everyone and no one in the family will leave the table without a smile on their face and a full, contented tummy. They will beg for this meal over and over and as it is so simple to make you can do it just about any time.  Plus they’ll never say you don’t love them but plenty when you do make it for them.
