How to stop boredom eating

Sometimes when we are bored we just feel like eating. This can be a very bad thing for anyone who is overweight, or predisposed to be overweight.

Boredom can lead to health problems if we solve these problems by eating. So what can you do instead of eat if you are bored?

Well first you can find something that needs to be done in your home or yard and work on that. If you happen to have a lot to do and it is overwhelming you, then just start in one small area.

Continue working in this one area until you have completed this task. It could be cleaning and organizing a cabinet, or dresser or toolbox.

Something else you may do is take up writing; if you write using your computer it will take two hands normally.  *That is if you type correctly using two hands. Then spend the time you would have spent eating typing up stories, and letters.

Writing is therapeutic, in many ways, and can help you to have something productive to do. This is especially true if you write for articles or stories for pay.

Besides writing or finishing up chores. You may find it helpful to call up a friend for a chat. Or maybe even go visit your friend.

Getting together with a friend or several friends to go walking or hiking at a local park may also prove helpful curb snacking due to boredom.

When we are snacking due to boredom we are often packing on unnecessary pounds that we don’t need.  This in turn creates help problems, and also may create low self-esteem problems.

Chewing sugar-free gum is something else you can do instead of eating; this is especially good because the chewing action mimics the chewing actions of eating foods.

There are lots of things you can do besides eating when you are bored but sometimes you may have to think about what they are.

Going someplace where eating is not allowed is one option. Like a library for example.

Cleaning house one area or one room at a time may be an option, especially if you are behind on household chores. Going to a friend’s house to help them with household chores is another idea.

Working in your yard may be an option. Washing your car may be another option.

If you have pets giving them a bath and good brushing may be a good boredom buster.

Maybe just going for a walk if the weather is nice and you live in an area safe for walking.
