The power of prayer is to unleash God’s influence in your life. Additionally, it is imperative to ones spiritual growth; which helps a prompt connection to God. Prayer is the ability to have access to just about everything you could achieve, desire, or need; while it aligns with the will of God.
The essentials to ones spiritual growth and direct connection through prayer was first discovered for me, as a very young child and continued throughout my entire adult life.
What you are about to read, is not only “just a story” building an assortment of facts and scriptures, which were gathered through previous data written, in regards to prayer; yet moreover true testament of my prayer life, faith, and personal experience with God.
This testimony is how prayer has impacted my life verses the lives of others who did not access God through prayer.
My grandfather was the spiritual leader in the family. Religion, and going to church was very important to him and he was not hesitant to let us know it.
Looking back, my grandfather began taking us kids to church with him every Sunday. From what I remember I was about the tender age of three. Though it was very difficult for me to understand. The minister spoke with a very strong accent, so aside from that, I had no idea what was going on.
Squirming around in my seat, and listening to the sound of his voice was about the extent of it. However, the seeds of this spiritual being called God were planted in my mind very early.
My mother gets the credit for being the one who actually taught me how to pray. Every night before bed, she would lovingly tuck me in, and we would pray together.
“Believe it or not she was not even a Bible reader”, but she often listened to Billy Graham who was a powerful -evangelist back in those days. I am not sure how she learned to pray, but she taught me just as the bible tells us how to pray, in Luke 11:1.
The prayer began with memorizing; Our Father who art in Heaven, hollowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trust pass against us, and lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil.
Before closing prayer, we would also ask God to Bless our family, and this would be the time to ask God for anything else that was desired. Then we would say, Amen.
