Carolina Beach touched my heart the very first time I visited Pleasure Island. I fell in love with its small town charm and have remained so ever since. I've created this journal to introduce the rest of the world to my particular beach paradise.
One of my favorite motels here is the SeaWitch Motel & Caf. It is a cozy place with under twenty rooms. The smaller venue is nice because the staff get to know you, even if you stay for only a few days. The people who work here are friendly and since they live locally they know a lot about the area. The housekeeper is an icon herself having lived in Carolina Beach for thirty odd years. She can entertain you with stories from the past and is happy to bend your ear with one while you sit on the porch and enjoy the waves rolling in.
The rooms are comfortable and clean, decorated like an old style beach cottage-warm knotty pine walls and tile floors. You just open the widows to hear the ocean. All of the upstairs rooms have an ocean view. The motel has its own private beach access, a couple of sun decks and a large swimming pool, some palm trees, everything you need at the beach!
A real plus though is the Caf and Tiki Bar just across the street. The food is great and they have outdoor seating. The bar has live music most weekends. The Tiki bar is open air and surrounded by palm trees. The band and dancing are outside in the courtyard. What a fun place!
Any other things you want to do at the beach are within walking distance-bring your bike or rent one just down the block, it's all you need to get around. Oh, that and your Rainbow flip-flops of course.
Now that I'm a local, it's the preferred motel for my out of town guests to stay. The Tiki bar? Well let's just say they know me by name!
