We had spent the weekend prior and up to preparing and just loving the festive time of year.Christmas, to be with each other, I hadn't thought it could possibly get any better.traveling between Florida and Georgia visiting and sharing in yuletide cheer. Wrapping gifts with family...tying pretty bows...baking...enjoying each other...enjoying family.

We came to our home in Florida on Wednesday evening, sure to be here for the Christmas Eve and the Christmas day's events we had planned. Carrying gifts from Georgia, my boyfriend explained he had my gift at his Mom's house and I wouldn't be able to open it Christmas morning, but would be there later in the day. I, giving him a hug, stated "that wasn't a big deal....and furthermore he didn't have to get me anything anyway!" Smiling and continuing to pack the car...we were off.

The drive was great, as I reflected how thankful I was to be spending so much time together at this time of year. Thankful for all of the gifts God has given me...in the past, and even more so recently.

Christmas Eve was a great get together....family. Kids opening packages, smiling completely contented and happy. Adults talking and sharing over dinner and desserts, as if out of a book. The parents all discuss that it's getting late and we all may need to head out for the kids to get a good nights rest. We all pack up our things and head home.

At home...we tuck into bed, kiss goodnight, wish well dreams....wrap the last remaining gifts, fill the stockings, tie a bow.....place the gifts under the tree.
He said to me, as he placed a good size box fully wrapped in ribbon grandeur....this is yours....I was confused, I thought it wouldn't be here. He then explained, adults weren't opening gifts there, so he didn't want me to be uncomfortable being the only one to open one. I smiled and said ok, finished placing the gifts and we too went to bed.

Christmas morning, amusingly we were awake and waiting for our son to wake us up....he didn't. He finally awoke as we were trying to make noise. He wanted to watch tv, go figure. I hadn't noticed the anticipation of my boyfriend. We went into the living room and watched as our son opened his gifts....pleased at the gifts he had gotten.

Dad says it Moms turn to open.....so in good family tradition, mom hands over the camera to Dad. I opened one box....a pretty bracelet from one son....then the other box,  a beautiful necklace from the other. smiling and taking pictures. Dad says to slide the next
