No doubt with today's economy affecting you in some way (which it is doing with most of us if we are really truthful), it is stressing you in a personal and financial way. So self care most probably will be well low on the to-do list! Even though we are feeling as if all is lost or there is no light at the end of the tunnel, it is important to nurture our well being.
Food is the fuel that is needed for your body. It needs this to help it to function properly, so do try not to go skipping or skimping on meals to save money. There is a way you can eat well without restricting yourself to boxed meals or take outs..
My advice is make every bit count. Get nutricient rich foods in first before junk! Protein, fruit (plenty of it), dairy products and whole grains should be at the top of the list. Try to buy free range poultry, eggs, meat. Try to buy fish caught in the wild and not farm raised. Why? because all those additives, antibiotics, hormones etc., that are being engineered into our daily diets/foods are not healthy for our bodies. They are there to provide the industry with more profit per product at the expense of our health! Whatever is being introduced into these products, when consumed are also being introduced into our bodies!
Hundreds of years ago our human bodies relied on the food farmed right from the land and the water (without pesticides, fluoride and other harmful additives). With todays fast food premises, manufacturing and food processing plants etc, our bodies are being 'invaded' with toxins/poisons that the human body was not designed to accept! Now this is why so many people around the globe are having 'health issues'. Obesity, diabetes, skin disorders, chronic headaches, intestinal problems, nervous disorders and the list goes on.
So getting back to the food topic. Try buying in larger healthier packages of food example include 16oz tubs of low fat yogurt and family packs of farm free (organic) chicken, meat. Slicing bulk chicken breasts - then seasoning baking and freezing them - its a lot healthier and more economical than buying processed chicken strips! When frozen in small quantities they can be thawed as needed for table use in salads, sandwiches, or other recipes. Even more instead of relying always on expensive cuts of meat, introduce less costly sources of protein into your diet, such as beans, eggs and peanut butter. (they do a low fat organic peanut butter at the supermarket eg: Giant Eagle stores) otherwise use the peanut butter
