To fully understand what “prayerful meditation” is we first have to define what meditation is for the Christian believer. Meditation can be many different things for many different faiths, but for this article meditation for the Christian is contemplating deeply about all things spiritual that pertain to God through Jesus Christ.
The Christian can incorporate meditation practices into their prayer process by studying the word, praying about it, and asking God to give them the spiritual understanding and wisdom to apply God’s Word into their daily life. When the Christian meditates on the word regularly it will further spiritual growth and maturity in the Lord though the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within them.
Prayerful meditation brings focus and concentration into our prayers so we can feel closer to God. It helps us to sincerely ask for what we need and to also pray for others in their time of need. “The Lord is near to all who call on him.” (Matthew 6:6) The main benefits of prayerful mediation are gaining faith in God, finding peace in the word, and receiving a renewal of body, mind, and spirit. Whatever it is we are asking for in prayer we can reflect upon it more fully, asking God for understanding through the Holy Spirit.

She would dutifully wake up early each morning and plan out her morning bible study routine, which included taking notes with an erasable marker in her bible and silent mediation and prayer for one hour before the start of her day.
I believe faithful reflection to our Lord each morning brought my grandmother a complete renewal of her mind and spirit each day. Grandma was the happiest and the most faithful woman I have ever
