Poetry: Sunrise service

by Margaux Sky

Created on: March 06, 2010

Lift high your arms in glory as your head bows full with prayer

Sing in choral hymns magnificent

The ceremony of dawning morning affirms

Love poses not as rich or poor

Nor starved with hunger nor filled with riches

Love poses not in splendor nor does it pose as weak

Love the teacher

Blind to human superiority

That some are enhanced or some less significant

The refusal to think love is as such

Raises the soul in beauty

Arching upward to true rapture

The morning rises through the sun and makes no thought of whom to favor

The birds sing giving pleasure to all

A secretive concert for no one

In a crowd we kneel and rock to prayers that must renew each day

The simple message love provides

Why do we make complex

Lift high your arms in glory as your head bows full with prayer

Sing choral hymns magnificent

The ceremony of dawning morning affirms

The road you travel through the day

The love you give or make absent

Reveals the core of who you are
