How Facebook acts as a marketing tool

The value of having a Facebook page is becoming increasingly obvious to many business owners. Small home-run businesses and big corporations find that Facebook acts as a marketing tool. Having a Facebook page can help a business in a number of ways, and ought to be considered for marketing any size of business. Facebook ads can target a specific sector, and a Facebook page can reach more potential customers than would be possible marketing on others social networks.

Facebook has been growing and developing ever since it was first set up as a method of connecting people online.Initially it was intended for use between personal friends and family members. Facebook now has millions of users around the world and connections are being formed every day between businesses and individuals who become fans of their Facebook pages.

A business does not need to be an established name to get fans on Facebook. Anyone can join Facebook as an individual member and start finding "friends", joining groups and becoming a fan of other pages. The more connections made initially, the better it is when a business does set up a Facebook page. Business people who already have a large number of Facebook friends can send out a message all of them at once, inviting them to be fans of the Facebook page. Posting on an individual member's status about a business page, and posting regular updates, ensures friends keep up-to-date with business activities.

People who have never heard of a business could find its Facebook page by viewing the profile of a friend and noticing comments from that Facebook page, or just seeing that a friend is a fan of a page and clicking the link to see what the page is about. A business can encourage every fan to recommend its Facebook page to all their followers, perhaps with a fun offer or a contest they can all join in. That way the Facebook page will become known to many more people across the network.

A business website, and business premises, should have a clear invitation for customers and potential customers to become a fan on Facebook. A store, bar or restaurant could advertise its own Facebook page, and it is even easier for an online business to link a Facebook page through a badge on the company website, by placing a link in marketing emails and adding it to the content of email newsletters. A Facebook page can be linked to marketing articles and press releases, when these are submitted to online directories, posted on blogs or published on websites.

Every networking opportunity can be used to promote a Facebook page. The most important factors for business success comes from having a Facebook page that is accessible and sufficiently interesting for people to want to become fans. That can simply be achieved by posting a lot of good content regularly to the page. The more interactive the page content is, the better Facebook acts as a marketing tool.

Facebook acts as a marketing tool by allowing a business and its Facebook page to become known to many of the millions who use Facebook daily.
