Good writing is cathartic. Over the years many have vented many frustrations and have expressed their desires and dreams through writing. Writing has served as a forum for making use of the ideas floating around in their minds and affording them the opportunity to present their work on various on-line sites and in some major publications.
This writer developed a passion for writing at age six, after becoming home bound after and during a bout with diphtheria. "Dick and Jane" primers became the heroes of the day and the preoccupation and attention would be on the pictures and the ensuing activity brought about by the verbs and how certain parts and scenes should have been portrayed or how they could be improved.
In junior high, the writer wrote love letters and poems for male counterparts whose hormones were raging with lust; today, many of them would be called nerds. They were academic achievers, but they lacked social skills, which proved profitable for the writer. At twenty-five cent for each letter or poem, those love missives provided an avenue to express and use all the senses and to ratchet up the passions the guys wanted to articulate to their indifferent, would-be lovers.
All through high school and college the writer did much better in classes that required writing and critical thinking, like Political Science and logic classes, because professors demanded positions be defended when writing or speaking. Though creative writing was a first love, as life would have it, there was also over a period of time, a considerable number of technical writings was also written. No matter the genre in which one choose to write, folks who love to write will always find themselves lost in the message they try to convey.
Most writers find the desire to write is a part of them and is irreversible. They never tire learning new words and using them in different ways to enrich their thought process. Ideas for new articles leap around in their heads and they anticipate the pleasure they will receive when they weave stories and have them come to light on paper and have others like it. More often than not, the goal of every writer is to take the most commonplace topic and create articles or stories that make them page turners. Likely, all writers will agree on one thing: they all love to write for the fun of it and find it both addictive and cathartic.
