As an avid Facebook user, I've joined quite a few Facebook groups (most of them being stupid dealing with random stuff), but I've never actually thought about how to create one. With all those random groups out there (for example: "I Join Too Many Groups Because Their Names Make Me Say OMG! That's True!"), you would think that people could make a group the same way they can make a fan page. But there's no option on the Facebook login page for creating a group. So how can you make a group on Facebook?
Again, I myself didn't know, so I went straight to Facebook's help page and searched "How to Make a Group". As I scrolled down the page, I found the answer. Like with the plethora of games and quizzes, you had to make a group via an application called the Groups App. So then I started hunting down this app I had never heard of. When I found the application, I found myself back at my profile. I looked through all my bookmarks and realized that the app was right there under my nose while I was looking for it all over Facebook (I couldn't believe I had such a bad blond moment).
So to create a test Facebook group, I first clicked on the button right above the list showing all of the groups you've joined. It took me to what seemed like a big form. It had a lot of stuff to fill out, but there was only three things you would need to fill out: the group name, the group description, and the group type. After filling out these fields and pressing next, your group will finally come to life!
But on the next page, you can customize your group to your liking. You can set who can access the group and what they can post on its wall. If you are making a real group instead of some pointless piece of crud, this customization is really important. You can also set group admins and officers, and also invite people to join. After you finish, just click on the "Save and Continue" button on the top right, and you will be finished making a Facebook group. Of course, this doesn't mean that you can't edit your group settings later. After you finish, you can edit the settings by going to your group's page, and clicking on the link saying "Edit Group".
Making a Facebook group can seem really challenging at first, but when you find out that the app to create a group is right under your nose, and is easy to use, making a group is as easy as 1-2-3 (and sometimes four and five).
