Natural stones are unique and offer endless possiblities. For many this option adds a distinctive flavor to your unique outdoor style. The advantages to using natural stone over manmade is a custom design which no other stone can provide. The colors, textures and weights and proportions all add a dramatic flair to any design. The thing I enjoy most about  working with natural stone is the ability to find patterns in the randomness of the stones in their many shapes and sizes in laying out walkways. It is like fitting together a puzzle without having a picture to look at. You can break stones into new stones to fit and it does not diminish their value, it adds to it. It is an art form and appeals to your sense of creativity that can stand the test of time. If you have this talent it is easy to bring out the natural beauty of the stones kind of like painting a picture.

The use of natural stone has increased over the years by those who want to be unique and stand out. By adding natural stonework to a home foundation it can create a look of historical value.  In older historic homes and rural contryside settings we value the rich textures the stones add to the tranquility of the surroundings. Envision magestic fireplaces built from hand laid stone and the warmth of the heated stone towering above you. Ah, there is nothing like it.  Strong foundations adorn the landscape of homes and barns alike with the ageless beauty no concrete can match. This is the romatic ideal of how "home and hearth" appeal to our senses. Slate roofs are unparralelled in durability for the cost of materials and are virtually maintenance free for years. Slate floors are tremendously popular in foyers and entryways. No wonder natural stone is the natural choice for many homeowners. We use natural stone to make a lasting impression.

When considering the use of natural stone it is best to contact a person who can help you to decide which stone is right for you. Natural stones sold commercially are usually palletized and ready for use. This is the best method to use if you have a large project which may require a large quantity of stone. Natural stones are sold by weight and can be transported to the site for a nominal charge. Collecting natural stones is a very time consuming task. You may not be able to find enough matching stone to complete your project. So it pays to look around and weigh your options carefully. You will be surprized how much variation you can find at your local retailer for stone. Please protect our environment! Make sure if you are collecting natural stones on your own you do not disturb endangered plant or animal species which may inhabit the area. Fields of stone are natural habitats to many plants and animals which need them to survive. Natural stone requires no special treatments or chemical additives to preserve their natural beauty out of doors. Indoors they may require special treatment to preserve their natural beauty. So if you are looking to create a thing of beauty and lasting durability, check into natural stone, it is a natural choice.
