We have all heard that "God works in mysterious ways". From my perspective, God has not abandoned America. We have mostly become complacent about the condition of our country. Until there is a crisis that affects us as individuals, we often leave things up to the other guy to deal with everyday issues. In my own world where I don't always remember to pray when things are going well, I now pray fairly routinely. The condition of our country has me and millions of other citizens up in arms as to how we have come this far while heading in the wrong direction. It is through our own helplessness that we quickly recall our faiths and turn back to God. God never leaves us...it is we who leave God.
The idea that our nation's roadmap to success for all was written with incredible wisdom by our forefathers and more and more abandoned even by those who benefit from it is ludicrous. It is the same theory of the story of "shirttails to shirttails in three generations". The first generation works hard to build a business. It is all consuming and finely crafted to be the best it can be. Hours, days and years of blood, sweat and tears are willingly offered for the right and freedom to own one's business. The children of those "business builders" watched as their parents sacrificed in many ways to have something fruitful, lasting andworthwhile. The next generation most likely inherits that business as the first generation ages and passes on. This generation did not see the hard work, effort and sacrifices made by their grandparents. It means so much less to them. All that they have had because of their parents and grandparents is taken for granted. They themselves did not work for it , and often, it is lost due to shallow roots. T
his analogy holds true for America. We have come so far and taken so much for granted. Today's world is full of greed, when there is no excuse for it. We were conceived as "one nation under God". Our own ideals regarding our freedoms and liberties and sharing these with anyone who wants these same things is a large part of where we have gone wrong. There is a sense of entitlement amongst many who have known nothing but government intervention in their lives. The rest of us are paying the price. In recent months, there has been a wave of uproar in this country due to political chaos and governing which has taken a course off the beaten path of our forefathers yellow brick road. In this wave, there is fear, anger, depression; but there is also hope. Many of us have found our way back to God while looking for answers and comfort. I believe God is hearing our prayers and orchestrating through his people just what needs to occur to turn this country back into the grandest place on earth..."one nation under God".
