It was a beautiful Christmas morning, and I had just handed my fiance her present. She hadn't really expected anything. She told me repeatedly not to get her anything for Christmas. Of course, I couldn't do that. I wanted to do something very special for her. Something she wouldn't expect that would shock her and delight her at the same time. The box was fairly large, and when she got it unwrapped, it was a lovely floral box. Inside was a note :
If I had a thousand years...
Underneath was a second wrapped package. As she unwrapped that one, she found a second floral box underneath. Opening it, she found a second note :
Then maybe it would be enough...
And again, underneath this, a third box. Along with the next note inside :
To prove to you that all my love...
The fourth box in contained another box, and another note :
Is all you need...
The Fifth box contained, yes, another box, along with another note :
I'll prove it to you every day..
The sixth box contained, you guessed it, ANOTHER box, and another note :
I'll grant your dreams in every way...
The seventh box (Getting smaller with every one) contained another box, along with another note :
You'll never have to beg of me...
The last box (I know you were getting tired there) contained a key on a key chain. A look of amusement had been on her face this whole time, and it now turned to a smile. We had discussed the fact that she had no key to my place, and no card to pass the gate, so I had corrected this little error, sort of. She lifted up the key and didn't notice the string also attached to it till it was out of the box. The string pulled out one last box, along with the following note :
Will you please marry me?
The box that was pulled out was upside-down, so I came over and flipped it for her. It contained the purest and clearest diamond I could afford, set in 18K white gold. An engagement ring to symbolize the love I felt in its purest form. I sang the notes that she'd been pulling out, a song I wrote and modified just for the occasion. She of course said, "Yes." Amid tears, laughter, hugging, kisses, and smiles from all three of us, it was an amazing Christmas morning.
