The pleasing scent of sweet perfume
A lover's last caress
The feeling of an empty house
It hurts me, I confess
I always wanted love so strong
That fire could never shake
But words made out of dynamite
This heart did surely break
A love I found near mountaintops
Did make me want her so
We moved down south to make a home
Was the only way to go
But overseas one day she went
Her heart left on the plane
She broke my heart and left it there
With all the men she'd lain
She returned after all that time
Beautiful and sweet
Then once at home alone at last
She knocked me off my feet
His name was James she loved him so
But he wouldn't leave his wife
I forgave her easily
No fighting nor no strife
But my forgiveness freely gave
She didn't want at all
She said she'd rather leave that day
See the writing on the wall?
Another love I found one day
One I had known before
She'd never break my heart that way
So she surely swore
But cheat she did too many times
Though she tried to act so mild
Even one the day she said
She was having someones child
She left me there alone again
My heart was torn to shreds
And to this day I've never spent
To long in other beds
Perhaps my heart just cannot feel
The warmth of the sun no more
Or maybe I never truly felt
True love now or before
Maybe someday my queen will come
I'll keep watch with a weary eye
Because I think true love this round
Has truly passed me by
This round of life I've come to think
Might have a diff'rent goal
Perhaps my task for this go round
Requires not another soul
Perhaps I meant to raise a child
Or simply be a friend
These things a single man can do
Without another to hold his hand
So, on with life, I free it up
Thought it might be too late
I give over my world and life
To the tender threads of Fate

Poetry: One-sided love
by Moeze Lalji
One sided love
That is not
A game of tennis
The fruits will fall
The blessings will go away
What an empty home
We are cuddling
I am only a brief sentence
In your book of life,
Yet in mine, you take up chapters
With material that is always rife.
Such
Derailed
Two trains and one track
the destination the same
Speeding toward each other
Masochistic mind-framed
Eyes open illuminated
by Rick Bavera
Our friendship began as just that.
Friendship.
We connected.
We have so much in common.
Similar interests,
But different,
You said you'd always protect me,
You called me your best friend,
So why are you breaking my heart.
You smile and stare
